Studio Build - 2022

A while back, I was fortunate enough to acquire an old shed that was going to be torn down. Upon closer inspection of this shed, my first words were “I bet you could fit a drum set in there!”
Fast forward - the shed has been moved (cement slab and all!) to a new location and entirely repurposed! Many thanks to my Dad who happens to own a loader and a large trailer! Dad will not hesitate at any excuse to use the loader and he proudly chalked it up to a long list of unconventional yet quite necessarily tasks achieved with it in this remote area.
Additionally, Dad donated some ugly old painted pine boards he acquired from a house remodel years ago. I removed all the nails, planed them and made brand new ship lap paneling for the interior.
So, here is the project and my work on it this spring (of 2022). I am very much a minimalist and a resourceful one at that. This project closely resembles the camper van build I did in my old minivan - 100% from scrounged wood. The studio build was 100% repurposed as well (save for some screws and electrical components)!
I am so grateful to have this space to make music out in the woods. Stay tuned for more on that…
Side note: Any sound engineer or person familiar with recording drums in a small room will tell you, use a bigger room! I say… challenge accepted! And just wait till you hear how good it sounds in here!
